The OPA Election Committee held a meeting on Wednesday July 27, 2005 at 3:30 P.M. in Board Room. Presiding was Bill Synder, chairman. In attendance were members of the committee, OPA President Dan Stachurski, and OPA vice-President Skip Carey. During the meeting the committee was presented with certification from U.S. Postal Service that all 7,797 ballot mailings were received by the Post Office on July 14, 2005 and thus meeting the deadline for ballot mailing of the referendum part of the ballot. Tom Gulyas, the mail vendor hired by OPA, presented the certificate and also explained why some ballots could have been late arriving.
This was an excellent meeting and shows the value of openness in conducting the business of OPA, and also the dedication of the people serving on the committee -- especially Bill Snyder. Anyone can second-guess decisions, but no one should second-guess the integrity and honesty of these fine members of the Ocean Pines community who donate their time and work hard for our community.
