It’s a disappointing breach of basic civility, especially considering that her husband, Stuart Lakernick, made a point in his official statement to say: “For those who voted for my opponent (presumably referring to the 1,464 residents who supported me), I respect your choice, and I will represent you with the same commitment and fairness as anyone who supported me.” That’s the standard I expect not just in word, but in practice. Regardless of the election outcome, I remain committed to respectful discourse and to representing the interests of our residents and community values. I urge everyone who cares about the future of Ocean Pines to reject this kind of personal degradation and instead elevate our conversations to the level our community deserves. Let’s focus on the issues that matter: transparency, fair governance, and a leadership style rooted in integrity and everyday engagement. We may not all agree, but we can disagree with purpose, respect, and a shared commitment to making Ocean Pines better for everyone. |
