If OPA owns the station, OPA and OPA alone has the responsibility for depreciation on a $6 million building
That is what I am asking Bruce, given the MOU. Of course, there is the MOU language about OPA covering any expenses OPVFD can’t meet. Up until this latest MOU, OPA had final control what funds were given or not to OPVFD. All indications are that volunteer fire departments will eventually be all paid. They are close to that already. All this discussion aside, the OPVFD does a fantastic job. Fire fighting will always be a necessity, but the EMT is the day to day incredible service this community needs above all others. They are beyond first class. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Given the above, will OPA add depreciation to the assessment for the book value (or whatever is appropriate) for the OPA's ownership of the structure paid for by assessment dollars, to the tune of around $4 million? Let's assume for this discussion that the final price tag of the station is $6 million (around $4 million from OPA and $2 million from OPVFD). If OPA owns the station, OPA and OPA alone has the responsibility for depreciation on a $6 million building. |
