Mostly paid, full-time, I believe. The EMS folks are full time but I believe they are also fully qualified fire fighters. A truck cannot leave the station without some state mandated complement of firefighters.
A dependency on only volunteer firefighters could perhaps lead to long delays in getting a truck to the scene. Perhaps someone from OPA or OPVFD can clarify. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have a question. OPVFD means volunteer. Do we have paid firefighters or just paid EMS personnel, which most volunteer fire companies have? I was married to a VFC person for many years, and none of them spent the night at the firehouse. Just curious about the inner workings of OP. It wasn't until paid EMS were added that sleeping quarters were needed. |
