Puttin' on the Ritz

I used the phrase Puttin' on the Ritz to describe the above image. I wonder how many readers remember that phrase.

"Puttin' On the Ritz" is a popular song written by Irving Berlin in 1927. It was originally a part of the musical film "Puttin' On the Ritz" and later became a hit in its own right, with numerous artists recording the song. The phrase "put on the ritz" refers to dressing very fashionably and living luxuriously, often with an ostentatious show of wealth. The song's lyrics suggest going to a place where fashion is prominent and dressing up to impress.

The phrase "put on the ritz" is thought to have originated from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in London, which was known for its opulence. The song "Puttin' On the Ritz" was first performed by Harry Richman and chorus in the 1930 film of the same name. The song was also recorded by Leo Reisman & his Orchestra, Lew Conrad, and Fred Astaire.

Even Clark Gable sangand danced to Puttin' on the Ritz. And Gene Wilder.
