OPPD welcomes new officer Vicki Martin sworn in during April 26 OPA Board meeting The Ocean Pines Police Department on Saturday welcomed its newest officer, Vicki Martin, during a swearing-in ceremony at the Ocean Pines Clubhouse. Ocean Pines Association President Stuart Lakernick conducted the ceremony during a regular Board meeting. "This is one of the great things that we’ve instituted here in Ocean Pines,” Lakernick said. “We the Board are delighted, and I have the honor of swearing in Officer Vicki Martin.” Ocean Pines Police Chief Tim Robinson said Martin comes to Ocean Pines following a distinguished 27-year career with the Ocean City Police Department, which was followed by several additional years with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office. During her three-decade-plus career in law enforcement, Martin worked as a uniformed patrol officer before moving to criminal investigations in Ocean City where she spent most of her career, specializing in child abuse investigations. She developed a reputation as a capable and experienced investigator and was often called upon to handle high profile investigations throughout the region. Following her retirement in 2013, Martin transferred to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office as the detective assigned to the Worcester County Child Advocacy Center. During her tenure, Martin received numerous accolades that included the Silver Star Award in 2019 and the Detective of the Year award in 2023.
