I spotted a new sign in my area of Charleston SC. Roundabout Ahead.
I'm thinking about taking a sharpie and writing DUH !! at the bottom. I've never defaced a sign but this might be as good time to begin. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The total lack of any response to the removal of the old signs all along the Parkway is a clear indication that signs are useless at this point in time. Yet the board spends perhaps $250,000 to put up electronic signs that are even more useless - under pressure from the Communications Committee. The new electronic sign at the entrance to the Yacht Club can only be by travelers heading from the north side to the south side. The new sign at the Yacht Club, contrary to what was promised by the board, are not just messages in black/white text, but color graphics. Worse still, the message changes about every five seconds. The boards needs to install a small parking lot near each sign location so travelers can pull their cars over to read the electronic signs. {#emotions_dlg.icon_smile1} What the heck is a communications committee? Sounds very Soviet. I have become very anti-sign in my old age. It''s a symptom of the nanny state. I've never been out of country except Mexico but I'll bet the US is the most sign infested country. One day I expect to see a sign saying sign ahead. Electronic signs above roadways were touted decades ago as a boon to traffic control but all they ever seem to say is buckle up or don't drink etc. The ones outside schools are particularly annoying. Soon my favorite will be displayed - Have a safe summer. |
