For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: 589 is a bit of a traffic mess now, much worse than in, say, 1990 even. It will become much worse. Widening will not happen for perhaps another 20 years or more. Hard to imagine what it will be like by then. The county will eventually relent to developers and use the Ocean Pines sewage treatment facility and water to spur intense commercial development along 598. Thousands of sewer connects are available in a plant the County promised would only be sized to handle the Ocean Pines subdivision. Intense development along much of 589 is inevitable, regardless of any current official county comments to the contrary. It will please many folks, depending on what is developed. I am rooting for a Costco.
