Those around at the time will remember then County Commissioners Tom Cetola and Judy Boggs saying no further commercial development would be allowed on Route 589 until Route 589 was widened.
That worked out well with the North Gate Medical Complex, Royal Farms and the new , yet to open, Atlantic Hospital complex built since that statement was made. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: At 10:30 AM on 12/19/2023 the Worcester County Commissioners will hold a public hearing in Snow Hill regarding rezoning of about 2 acres across from the North Gate from agricultural to C-2 General Commercial. This is a very intensive commercial-use zoning. The two acres is a part of a larger 20 or so acres piece of land currently all zoned A-2 Agriculture. The Planning Commission previously gave an unfavorable recommendation. Those around at the time will remember then County Commissioners Tom Cetola and Judy Boggs saying no further commercial development would be allowed on Route 589 until Route 589 was widened.
Route 589, sooner or later to be Ritchie Highway. It is inevitable. |
