Speaking for myself I think the $2 million we spend on police department could be better focused subsidizing our already efficient county and state law-enforcement agencies.
I think the total is around $1.6 million from OPA and the county contributes around $450,000. Interestingly, the DRs require OPA to provide police protection. Originally that consisted of having a couple of guards around, one at the North Gate check-in when OPA streets were supposedly closed to the general public. I think everyone needs to just let things cool down and allow Chief Robinson to do his job. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ken: Police recruitment is down across the United States. Small agencies like an Ocean Pines, are having more difficulties than most.
