Joe, we are an HOA. Why does it have to be pool users paying for increased salaries? It's an amenity for everyone. How about assessments covering the increase?
Policy is for each BUSINESS amenity to break even on operations. There are FIVE pools. The proposal is not to close them all but have some sort of rotation. This issue has been beat to death for 30 years or more. These businesses need to operate on their own. Given OC cannot find enough lifeguards, there is no guarantee a couple more dollars an hour will suddenly find lifeguards lining up at the admin building. I think the current policy is a reasonable solution for this point in time. I would also point out that those purchasing pool memberships were told in advance this year about some rolling closures. |
