Jenna, I am unaware of the details but it sounds like you are referencing an anecdotal experience.
It could well be that the number of lifeguards required to keep a particular pool open were not available. One needs to know the total number of guards available on any given day and the number of guards required on any given day to meet state law. Also, the number of guards required will vary with how many people show up at the pool. It must be quite a juggling act for management of five pools. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Students ( and others) often work to accumulate money for the next school year. Along with OPA paying less, often they do not get the hours they need to make the required money. This has happened at the indoor pool. Lifeguard wanting to work, and asking for more hours, but the pool closed. Why would they want to work for an employer that pays less and offer less hours? Could there be a problem with management of the pools? |
