I agree with Dave. The JFG group is pushing murder, homicide, etc charges. This isn't going to happen so then what? More anger and vengeance?
The maximum sentence in MD is: Under Maryland Transportation Code § 27-113, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. If the accident results in death, hit and run carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The “hit“ part of the incident is a non issue. There will be no charges for that. The JFG group is all over the place with it's anger. Their anger should be with the people directly involved in the incident and the DA. That's it. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jac, what is to be gained? Run him out of business? Really? The Knupp family and all of their crazed followers should be proud. Truly the Christian way of approaching this tragedy. Wow, let’s destroy a man, his family and his business because you believe he is involved or hasn’t acted the way you feel he should, even though you have no absolute facts or truths regarding his actions. Let’s destroy a whole community, threaten damage to public property, alienate otherwise caring people because of your over the edge methods. I won’t apologize for feeling this way and I am totally disgusted with the path the “Do it for Gavin” group has decided to follow. Truly disgusting. It has tarnished the original hopes for the young man’s legacy and made the followers look as some say, vigilantes. Trying to destroy a man and his business, trying to take away the chance for dining and entertainment fun for all of the citizens of Ocean Pines and surrounding communities as some sort of “ payback “ is simply just wrong. A nice idea has hone completely sour. I now get angry every time I see a Do it for Gavin sign. Sad tragedy that only has gotten worse. |
