Finally, I’m told, the reporter said she would not publish the proposed article, and suggested the board delete all the emails.
I have now a copy of the email exchange. The reporter did not suggest she would not publish or deletion of emails. What actually happened is after the board members began arguing with each other the reporter said, "Doug and others, It might be a good idea to take me off of this email string at this point." That was followed by Rick Farr writing, "This back n forth including the press makes this Board Dysfunctional and embarrassing." We will see Thursday what, if anything, is written regarding the email exchanges. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The following forum thread/discussion began in the discussion about Reliable sources say a reporter for the Bayside Gazette contacted the OPA Board of Directors via email to ask if Doug Parks' president comments about the "vigilante group" were shared by all the board members. Apparently, a rather lengthy email exchange took place, with some board members agreeing and some not. Finally, I’m told, the reporter said she would not publish the proposed article, and suggested the board delete all the emails. (Correction: I misunderstood part of the information. I have now an actual copy of the email exchange. The reporter did not suggest she would not publish or deletion of emails, rather that the board take her out of the ongoing email discussion she initiated. ) That is kind of interesting, in that not long ago Doug Parks complained about the Gazette coverage, and the reporter at that time was taken off the OPA beat. Now, do we have a story killed that certainly is newsworthy? Time will tell. |
