For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I was so surprised by the title of this forum release, I had to read this right away. A vigilante group in Ocean Pines, oh my, oh wait, this is just one explanation from a board of directors that seem to favor a certain party/clique of people. Speaking of cliques or certain circles, my question in the beginning of the statement from Matt Ort, was anyone else confused like me? I had no idea who Matt Ortt was, I had no idea who Ralph Deangelus was, I thought to myself after reading that statement, wow this man chose the word of a man where they found the car, but it made me want to find out more about these gentleman, let alone why there was not more sympathy for Gavin. So I believe myself and many others did just that, researched who they were. Of course the community joined the Facebook pages to support our fellow neighbors who are hurting. If the Board's statement is true, why that is horrible, especially about bulying a child, that must end now, right now!! However my 1st impressions since this started is wow the people involved, the people who made statements, they seem awfully sure that they are big wigs, a force to be reckoned with and that everyone knows them and it was absolutely necessary to put out a statement. I can only speak for myself, but I would consider a wager that the majority of the residents of Ocean Pines never heard of either of those gentlemen before. In their circle their clique they must be high up on the food chain, but us peons have no idea who you were and didn't care, until that statement. As a former business person I looked at that statement and knew it was wrong, my take would have been to put Mr Deangelus on a temperorary leave to deal with his family emergency if the company still wanted to pay him that would have and still would have been no ones business. They chose a different route, but that is their own choices not the community's. I would love to have further detail of the groups threatening behavior, so I may make an informed decision as to whether to continue support of their 1st Amendment rights to have a Facebook page. Or if there could be further clarification as to what precisely happened, and better yet in the words of the entertainers who canceled would be preferred. The reason why I ask is simple, some people, okay most people and we are all pretty much guilty of this tend to exaggerate a bit. There are still so many unknown things to this open story that it really makes you chose a side, practically. So do I believe the threatening aspect of this, or did people reach out to the upcoming entertainers and explain the story ask them to look into it themselves and make their own decisions? Those are 2 completely different scenarios, and like most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The other part of the statement made by the board that is really frightening, is the threat they made to the residents, stating this may cause the assessment fees to go back up. Please do not get it twisted it may have been factual but it is still a threat. If members of the board, choose a management company to operate, even though they produced a profit for our community, over their own residents, that may be a problem. I could see this becoming ugly on both sides real quick, please try and work together, and let your hearts lead the way, not the mighty dollar. |
