I would agree about the civility part of it…but ultimately the decision needs to be made in the larger best interests of OPA and not the geese!

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: OPA Board of Director advisory committees like Environment & Natural Assets are just that, advisory. In the case of ENA, the committee is inclined to explore alternative methods to euthanasia perhaps with more vigor than previous committees (or maybe not). Ultimately it's up to the GM and/or Board to decide (i) if and how much time and money to spend on various non-lethal methods of goose population control and (ii) if and when to cull the flock and donate the food like they did in 2018. All sides - those who oppose euthanasia and those who believe repeating 2018's culling of the flock is needed - need to accept whatever the GM and/or Board decide and be civil about it. |
