I personally have not seen a dog owner let an unfriendly dog off-leash. In other words the owner decides whether to break the leash law or not. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I see them regularly as they come and go on the road to Bainbridge. I guess they put the leashes back on before they reach the street. Apparently, dogs don't bite in the park Hi Roseann, Some dogs are biters and some are not. Hopefully the ones who bite, don't come to the park unleashed. Whether a dog is on or off-leash in the park depends upon who is there at the time. There are dogs at the park who get along nicely and have a good time playing together. If I see certain dogs, I get mine as far away as possible and would never let one of them off-leash. If there are children playing owners keep their dogs on-leash. Bainbridge is a big park, and if owners are right there with their dogs, it is a good place for them to run freely and have fun. THere used to be a large medium brown dog who would wander into the park on a regular basis ..alone....and he was mean. He didn't have a tag and I wouldn't have gone near him to check anyway. If I saw him, I would put mine in the car and leave immediately. He definitely needed a fenced yard! I started driving my dogs over to the park, so that we could make a hasty retreat if we saw that dog! I think dog owners use common sense about controlling dogs. If several dogs are there, the dogs can do the Sniff Ritual to see if they will be cordial with each other and then maybe they can play together over in a corner.....with CLOSE SUPERVISION. I personally have not seen a dog owner let an unfriendly dog off-leash. As with most things, common sense is what counts in dealing with dogs. Each owner must have control over the dog. Nancy
