Even if it did not they could just reallocate funds to make it work. This is why they like to talk about slots revenue funding education or as was the case in Pa, to get the lottery bill passed, the seniors were promised the profits. Helps get the bills passed and the money freed up from these promised targets can then be spent in other areas.
Hi Jack, The Lottery was supposed to take care of ALL our educational needs. It was advertised as "solving the mounting cost of education." We would be on Easy Street! They were getting teachers to beat the drums. What a hoax! It will be the same with slots. We will get involved with the DIRTIEST industry in the country and you can be sure that they will take most of the money and we will be left with the social problems. I hope that people will see though this and VOTE NO! Nancy |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jack, if you think Worcester County will have to justify direct and indirect impacts to get the money then please show me in the bill where this is required and to whom the county will justify. Besides, even if some wording indicates it, the bill-approved uses for the slots money are so broad the county would have no trouble justifying $100 million. I guess I am just a little suspicious since it is to the advantage of the pro slots pols to make the projected proceeds look as large as possible. |
