Robert, all I and many others expected of the board was to ask Mathias if he would introduce legislation to get OPA 10% of the slots funds coming to the county. As of this point the three members of the board who met face to face with Mathias will not even say if they asked him the question, and you say I'm being unfair? I do not profess to be politically savy. However, I am smart enough to know that if you meet with a politician and hope to have the politician do something, you need to ask for what you want. Forget all the mumbo-jumbo from me and everyone else discussing this. Would you like to see OPA receive 10% of slots money coming to county, an amount that would begin at around $500,000 and likely rise to $1 million or more per year? If your answer is "no," why would you not want OPA to receive the money? That's the only issue here -- do we want to try and obtain a direct, state-mandated percentage of slots funds for OPA. The board has gone on record now as saying it does not even want to try. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, I'll check it out. Meantime I'm looking into how lot owners can get directly involved as the board refuses to look out for us. Don't you think that your statement is a little unfair? Reading posts from you, Bill and Les, it would appear that the BoD did get involved but didn't do it in a way that was satisfactory to you. Maybe they didn't ask the right questions, maybe they didn't go about it the right way, maybe just maybe they aren't as political savoy as you, but they did meet and talk with our politicians.
