Courier/OceanPinesForum.com candidate debate is July 15
By Bob Lassahn

The Courier and OceanPinesForum.com will host their second Ocean Pines Association (OPA) Board of Directors candidate debate at the Worcester County Library Ocean Pines Branch at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15. The format will be the same as last year’s well attended event, providing for interaction between the candidates. All four contenders for the two available board seats are expected to participate.

Candidates for the board include Bill “Bill Z” Zawacki, a resident of Ocean Pines for two years from Leesburg, VA making his first bid for a board position; Ray Unger, a Pines resident for 10 years from Baltimore who ran unsuccessfully for a board seat in 2005; Carmine “Joe” Cericola, a 12 year resident of the Pines from New York making his first attempt at securing a seat; and Mark Venit a 14 year Pines resident originally from Philadelphia, who settled here after stops in New York and Florida. Mr. Venit is a current board member now seeking election to a second term.

Candidate profiles and their response to several questions have been published in the summer edition of the Ocean Pines Report mailed to each property owner in the association. Ballots will go into the mail on July 13 and the two successful candidates will be announced at the OPA Annual Meeting on August 12. .

The Courier/OceanPinesForum.com debate is another opportunity for voters to see the candidates in action and to get a feel for their ability to interact with each other before marking their ballots. The event will be videoed and available for viewing on OceanPinesForum.com.
