Sir,
Maryland DOT has the means to do it legally. It's our streets that are listed at 35 mph that make it illegal. Technically, you are allowed on the streets rated at 25 mpg, but at some point you have to cross the 35 mph roads at intersections. Having said that if you use the golf course path you can get around a lot of ocean pines without being on a 35 mph road. IJS. Works well at river run and glen riddle. Bill. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: ABSOLUTELY. For many reasons golf carts should be allowed in Ocean Pines roads as long as they are safe, and have street legal safety modifications. Crisfield did same and it works. Go Green Low emission Less level of injuries. The Yacht club parking lot gets overwhelmed in the summer and we can hardly drive around the roads of the Club. Short distances avoid gas usage and it is more convenient. They go at lower speeds so less chances of accidents. Their speed is 25-30mph. No different than the motorized high speed electric scooters or electric bicycles that are getting popular and everyone uses. Furthermore safer than those scooters and electric bikes. It is no different than a small electric car and occupies less space . If you make the golf cart required to be register at OP it will bring some revenue. Signs of the times . Lets be ahead in our community. |
