In a surprise announcement at the OPA Board of Directors Candidates Forum on 6/18/2008 Tom Bickerstaff announced he was withdrawing. Thus the OPA Board election is over as a practical matter with Les Purcell and John McLaughlin elected to three year terms on the board.
The forum continued as scheduled. About 30 association members, representing perhaps 20 of a possible 8400 votes in the upcoming board election, were in attendance. Richard Beatty, chairman of the Elections Committee presented questions to the two remaining candidates. The forum lasted about 90 minutes.
