Video: Rec-Parks on Bainbridge
Start
The Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Committee isn't happy about a proposed move of the Community Gardens to Bainbridge Park. There is some question about whether the committee formally voted, but the video makes their thoughts on the move abundantly clear.

The committee, chaired by Barbara Kissell, noted that a piece of available land on Manklin Creek Road near the tennis facilty entrance was offered to the gardners. Fred Henderson's gardners group turned it down, apparently saying the soil there was not too good, despite tests indicating it was acceptable. One of the Rec committee members pointed out correctly that soil can be prepped for gardening, and also that many of the gardeners bring in their own topsoil, etc.

The area on Manklin Creek Road is larger than what they now have, according to Barbara Kissell.

Why the push for moving this to Bainbridge Park when there are other options? Does anyone smell politics in addition to the dredge material. Kissell said, "They (the gardeners) want to take something away from the park. We want to add something to it."
