![]() ![]() ![]() Section 23: OPA Elections Subject: Board Candidate Signs Msg# 1226534

With the ARC Guideline change last year, the ARC separated the political candidate and Board candidate into two sections. For political candidates, they cannot be placed no sooner than 30 days prior to the election. Board candidates do not have the same restriction.
Signs cannot be placed in the back yard - taken out of last Guideline update. For Board candidates, there is no restriction on how many candidate signs you put up - if you want to support more than one candidate, you can - you can only put up 1 each of each candidate. ARC is working on the Guideline changes now - I will suggest for them to work with the Bylaws Committee to make the sign section more clear. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Board candidate signs and Ocean Pines referendum signs must be taken down within 7 days after the election in which he advertised candidate is running or the meeting at which the advertised referendum question is to be voted upon. Thanks. Interesting wording. There is no mention of when candidate signs can be placed. I seem to recall there was at one time. At one time golf course lot owners and waterfront owners could place candidate signs on both ends of lot. No longer? Referendum questions are not voted on at "meetings" as far as I know. So, Section 600.2 General Criteria G. Number says: In addition to the address plate, only one (1) sign of any type shall be permitted on any numbered slot. ????????? Section 600.5 does not mention how many board candidate signs may be displayed, either in regard to more than one sign for a particular candidate or perhaps six individual candidate signs if there are six candidates. Bylaws & Resolutions Committee has been trying to get this candidate sign business clearly understandable for well over 10 years. Or am I missing some language someplace clarifying all this? |
