Unfortunately, Touch of Italy management is really not allowing separate checks. Today at the Yacht Club several women came to the bar seeking ones for a $20 bill. The cashier did not have many. They were mad that they each had to more or less come up with cash.
This is ridiculous in Ocean Pines. The place was virtually empty. When I left, there were two tables of women (5) playing mahjong after eating lunch. One was former OPA president Colette Horn. They were refused separate checks, but the place was EMPTY otherwise. How is this possibly a hardship on management or staff. As far as I am aware most restaurants in the Ocean Pines area offer separate checks if requested. No big deal. Interestingly, the big bucks and the most checks are written on the outside deck on weekends. All separate checks. BigGrin OPA should ask Touch of Italy to eliminate what, in Ocean Pines, can only be described as a draaconian measaure that cannot help sales and takes so little time. Apparently, the customer is not always right at the Yacht Club. I wouldn't have any opinion on separate check policies except to say I'm inclined to leave it to the pros such as TOI. My guess is TOI doesn't want customers that exhibit certain behaviors of which separate checks is just one example. You are wrong in thinking any customer is better than no customer. If you ain't gonna make any money off of em, and they PO the server, what good are they? |
