As to the guy drinking from his water bottle while the anthem was playing?? It gives him too much credit to ascribe a "personal agenda". Brain dead would be closer to the reality. He has a brilliant future when his playing days are over. Tackling dummy. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Am I the only one who is offended. On Thanksgiving day, I tuned in to the game between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears. During the playing of the National Anthem, the camera focused on the Detroit Lions sideline. There was a contingent of respectful coaches and players standing erect with their right hand on their heart. There was also a contingent standing with arms dangling, swaying back and forth with a can't wait until this is over attitude. The disrespectful prize goes to an unidentified Detroit Lions player who was seen taking a drink from his water bottle during the playing of the Anthem. I would think, with all of the media attention that this subject has gotten, that the coaches and players in all sports should realize that they have the freedom to participate in their chosen professions because of the sacrifices that our brave men and women have made serving in the armed forces of our beloved country. Some paid the ultimate sacrifice so that you can do what you love. The citizens of this country certainly have the right to protest, but it should be done at an appropriate forum. In the interim, I believe that respect for our flag and our country is not subject for personal agendas during the playing of our National Anthem. Joseph J Pantone Veteran, USMC |
