Thanks, Rick.
For clarity - People who do not own property in OPA have no say. However, people who do not own property here or people who live here and do not own property here have every right to express their opinions in the public square of Facebook, letters to the editor, etc. even if they have no formal standing in OPA. As you are aware, any OPA sign regulations are not absolute. They are subject to applicable state and federal law. The HOA act contains sign regulations. This sign issue has been confusing for lot owners for decades. For example, neither the DRs or the Guidelines allow OPA Board candidate signs on any lot unless the lot owner obtains a permit. Maybe time to have OPA counsel clarify what can and can't be done in terms of signs on private lots. One example, even allowed signs cannot be placed in the road right of way or easements, as many owners do. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Paul ~ OPA has Declaration Of Restrictions, Resolutions and Governing Documents that outline which specific yard signs are allowed and not allowed. This has nothing to do with whether tax payers support public education. When people decide to live in a HOA, there are bylaws, governing documents and DRs that are to be followed. People that do not live in Ocean Pines have no say do with regards to our governing documents and bylaws. Regards Rick Farr President, Ocean Pines Association |
