Thanks. I have a full-text copy of the entire novella and thus no video transcript is needed.
What is not in the novella is any proof of the accusations that there is mold in the building and this mold made employees sick to the point where one quit. Looking at the minutes of the Committee's February 8, 2024 meeting, a meeting member Suzanne Russell attended, there is no mention of this serious health issue Russell claimed in her novella! OPA's president and GM were both present at that committee meeting. But lets go to the issue Russell raised at the board meeting on Saturday - a new, and considerably large building as opposed to a rehab of the existing structure. The meeting minutes state: "We were excited to hear the details and see the plans for the RC renovations." The minutes also state: "The committee took advantage of the opportunity to hear all that our GM John Viola had to say. He was very gracious with his time as he answered all our questions." My take on all this? The Racquet Sports Committee should be eliminated asap -- along with some others. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Here is a portion of the transcript of the public comments regarding the Racquet Center that was presented at Saturday's meeting: "We are concerned by the age of the building in terms of its structural soundness. We asked at our meeting (RSAC Meeting) last week when the proper legally required structural inspections were performed and neither of the two Board Members (Past President Doug Parks and now President Rick Farr) nor the GM present could provide that information. We are concerned that the building may not be safe due to a potential mold/mildew issue behind the walls which was making the employees sick and, in some cases, contributed to them quitting. We are worried that we may end up in a situation similar to the golf course building where they started with a renovation and found mold in the building and had to tear the whole building down and start over which ended up costing a lot more money in the end. The building needs a proper central HVAC system installed as opposed to the three completely different systems that are in the current building that don't properly ventilate the spaces." Transcript was taken from the video by Ocean Pines ROC and the notes in parenthesis were added. |
