March 24, 2024 OPA Board statement on temporary Racquet Center closure The following is a statement from Ocean Pines Association President Rick Farr: “At the March 23 Board of Directors meeting, it was brought to the Board’s attention by Racquet Sports Advisory Committee members Karen Kaplan, Suzanne Russell, and Cathy Noble that there were significant concerns regarding suspected mold in the Racquet Sports building, and they made a claim that it made people sick and caused employees to quit. We take that concern very seriously, as well as the health and safety of our membership. It was decided to close the building to have a full inspection completed and have any issues resolved. On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we are in full support of our General Manager, John Viola, for his swift action in putting the health and safety of our community first! Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter, and we thank the Racquet Sports Committee for bringing this to our attention.” |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: For Immediate Release From OPA March 24, 2024 Ocean Pines Racquet Center temporarily closed In response to feedback from the Racquet Sports Community and as part of a commitment to prioritize the safety of residents, the Ocean Pines Racquet Center will be temporarily closed until further notice. General Manager John Viola said the decision was made after careful consideration to mitigate potential risks and prioritize public health amidst current circumstances. “While we understand this closure may inconvenience those who regularly use the center, we believe this proactive measure is necessary to safeguard the well-being of our community members,” Viola said. “We will closely monitor the situation and provide updates on the reopening.” |
