My goodness, a leader of our community said it is not appropriate to look at public records, we are the public!
Hi Dana. I believe Farr said he felt it was inappropriate for "committee members" to do so. I tend to agree with him on that point but agree with you in the overall sense that any association has the right to make inquiries about OPA issues at the County. When one requests to serve on an OPA committee, that position should not be used in any way that might lead someone at the County to think the committee member is somehow representing OPA. We do not know if that happened in this case. Individuals wishing to take adversarial positions to OPA policy probably should do so outside the committee environment where individuals are appointed by the OPA president with the consent of the board. I also suggest that a Committee member looking at public files of deeds and records is not the same as calling the County and inquiring about what OPA can or cannot do in terms of building permits for purposes of making a political point to further a Committee goal of seeing the board approve some new large structure at the Racquet Center. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The OPA said it is inappropriate to go to the county and look at permits. If that is not paraphrasing and actually words, I am appalled. My goodness, a leader of our community said it is not appropriate to look at public records, we are the public! In an article a few weeks back about the yacht club marina, they stated they had to research who owned what? They better know who owns what properties, and it is public record and by following the Being clauses on Deeds and Plat records from that article, I know who owns What, and I can because it is Public Record!! Community Members, if anyone in Leadership tries to dissuade to not look in Public Records, and also say they do not even know what they own as for as boundaries, or what they Parceled to other communities are serious Red Flags for everyone to be concerned about. This should want to make you want to look behind the curtain to see who and what the Great and Powerful Oz is up to. |
