Put your ballot in the police station dropbox if you are concerned.
We have yet to see how all this plays out but one thing is very obvious - the handling of the election is not exactly going to restore confidence in how OPA handles elections. As for why the ballots were not received earlier, that was explained. The contractor did not mail them on July11 as required. Had that happened the ballots would have arrived this time last week. Unfortunately, OPA has offered no explanation as to why there was a week or so delay in the mailing. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Rick, My ballot has still not been received. Minor hiccups? Can you or anyone explain why the ballots have not been received in a timely manner? This is the third election cycle in a row where there have been "minor hiccups". While I am sure the election committee has worked hard the actual product of their work has not been a case study in restoring confidence. Also, what was the reason for including a name on a return envelope? While I don't spend my time conjuring up conspiracy theories, it certainly doesn't help instill confidence/integrity of the vote. It will be interesting to see the final vote count. Assuming I receive my ballot tomorrow, the 26th, and I return the ballot in the mail the 27th...will it arrive by the 8th of August? My guess is that no one would make those assurances...see the problem?? |
