![]() ![]() Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Parks on "Vigilante Group" Msg# 1183781

I believe that to this day, Matt Ortt and his family do not know what actually happened that night. Knowing and withholding information would be evidence tampering and he cannot use the 5th Amendment.
My guess is that even the attorney of the people involved doesn't know what actually happened. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: No one said he does. But he is responsible for the way he handled it once he was aware of what happened. Whether that be after DeAngelus told him whatever he told him or once he was aware the car was in DeAngelus’ garage. Or the more recent statement. He chose to make the statements he did. No one made him do it. He chose to continue to employ and partner with the household. Similarly, no one has forced Farr or Parks to say the things they have recently. Parks, speaking as OPA president, chose the words he spoke. Was there a threat in there? …or you Association dues will go up? It is up to the board and GM to see that that doesn’t happen. Pitting neighbors against neighbors is not the way forward. The board should have remained neutral. An early statement demonstrating empathy with the family while indicating patience for the legal process to play out. Full stop. Calling a group of 20,000 vigilantes was unnecessary and unprofessional. It definitely wasn’t helpful. It certainly wasn’t fair. A group within, ok. An entire group? No. There is a group that will support Ortt no matter what. That’s their choice. They do go on facebook and antagonize people that disagree with their stance. They don’t understand. Ortt apologized. To be clear, these people were supporting Ortt from the beginning. To pretend otherwise is disingenuous. Has everyone made a mistake? Sure. Have people naively backed someone? Sure. This was a big mistake with an obvious dire consequence early on. It should not have taken four months for a reversal but it did. Folks making threats and harassing people is never ok. When it happened to Cami, the call was let the police know. To Josette, she went to court. Done. Recent threats? Call the police and let them handle it. Same answer but yet that doesn’t seem enough. It either was or it wasn’t. It either is or it isn’t but those answers should match. |
