![]() ![]() Section 23: OPA Elections Subject: Election Committee Issues Msg# 1183519

It is INTERNET voting. INTERNET voting is not the same as going to a poll, selecting candidates on a piece of paper, and then feeding that paper into an electronic device. The PAPER is important.
As for whether the results of the INTERNET voting during the last election were accurate or not, it is impossible for OPA to know one way or the other. Your concern about the semantics of “first person” is curious. Any piece of paper completed by a voter will always be a first person document. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Actually, I don’t care either way. I just find it nuts all the concentration on electronic voting when the obvious error was with paper balloting and the method of combining lot votes. I also don’t believe there can be no validation of the electronic voting. You are the one who said electronic voting doesn’t allow for a first party paper trail. I don’t believe there’s any such thing. Once I turn my vote in, no matter the method, it’s become second party. Anyway, enough of that. |
