For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Taken to its full extreme, the failure to hand deliver ballots to each house and collect the marked ballots can be termed disenfranchisement. I'm sure this failure "suppresses the ability to vote or...reduce(s) the number of likely voters". An extreme example but any measure short of doing just that means some people may be disadvantaged. It's then up to reasonable people to choose a compromise. in this case, paper balloting has worked successfully in this community for years with few if any calls of "disenfranchisement". The most complaints have been because the last election did clearly disenfranchise some lot owners. Ours is a HOA that has "successfully and accurately conduct(ed)" paper ballot voting. I don't see the necessity to change. |
