Ortt’s original press release was insanely poor judgement, and apologies for it months later at first glance appear to be motivated by potential lost income, not a sudden and profound realization that what he said was horribly timed and thoughtless. It was all quiet when that sweet sweet tourist money was rolling in, but now that they have to rely on locals, suddenly we’re having a mea culpa? Yeah, okay.

This is a pretty unique situation…one that involves a dead child. In this particular case, I have zero issue with community outrage, zero issue with people protesting online or in front of restaurants, and zero issue with people choosing to spend their money elsewhere.
