Thanks for clearing that up. FYI, the city of Salisbury culled their flock in July 2019, one year after OP. Donation to those in need. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't think that meat donation actually happened. It was supposed to but as I recall our GM then, Mr. Baily, never informed the Food Bank that the meat was coming and the food bank never actually received processed meat. As a board member, you should do some research before making such statements, and apparently, your statement is based on what was said by the committee "goose expert" at the last ENA meeting. Your so-called "goose expert" was wrong. I just called Mike Hooks at the Maryland Food Bank in Salisbury and he confirmed the Food Bank did indeed receive the geese killed in Ocean Pines a few years ago as a part of the program administered by the Department of Agriculture. Killing the 300 or so geese and the subsequent distribution of the cleaned and packaged geese via the Maryland Food Bank was the environmentally friendly thing to do, it fed humans, and it diminished greatly the goose poop users of the pond are had to wade through. The resident goose population around the pond has increased since then, but it is not yet at level requiring another killing of the flock. |
