My boat is an 18-foot center console. I cannot imagine a boat owner of any size choosing to trailer and launch in lieu of a slip -- unless one travels to different waters all the time. Jet skis are another story. If everyone of them disappeared tomorrow it would not upset me. I would also suggest that the more nit-picking your approach, the less likely it is to gain a favorable ear. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: And the launching area is a part of Rec and Parks The ramps are special purpose facilties and users should be charged user fees. Golfers pay to use the golf course, swimmers pay to use the swimmiing pools, etc. Boat ramp users should pay something, even if it is a nominal annual fee, to use the ramps. If you are a boater then you should realize the value of a slip as compared to trailering and launching every time you want to use your boat. You most own a larger boat. Many of the users of the ramps use jet skis and other small boats. I doubt they are interested in renting slips. Additionally, people from outside OP use the ramps, including marine service vendors making a profit by doing service work within OP. My point in all this is that there seems to be a mood in OP that major amenities should "break even" with repect to operating costs. Therefore boat ramp users should pay something towards their use. What about pay toilets in all OP buildings? |
