Sure, restrict the bright reds and yellows or whatever, but telling someone they can have a nice gray siding because the house across the street has gray siding is absurd.

Isnt deciding wether or not the greys or the reds or the yellows are absurd completely a matter of taste?  Repition of color is, by definition, monotonous. Is monotony bad? Again a matter of taste? 

Anything else is purely arbitrary

What about the purpose of the DR's ?  "subject to the following Restrictions, all of which are declared and agreed to be in furtherance of a plan for the Subdivision, improvement and sale of said lots and are established and agreed upon for the purpose of enhancing and protecting the value, desirability and attractiveness of the property described in the plat and of the Subdivision as a whole."

Could it be that the ECC believes that coverage and height restrictions serve that purpose? 

Do you believe it is part of the responsibility of the ECC to serve this purpose?
