Worcester is NOT a poor county. There is plenty of money....just not for the Northern County....anywhere near Ocean Pines. Nancy, I wholeheartedly agree with your response to me. Our problem is that the other commissioners do not want to give any of it to us. Maybe we need commissioners who will fight harder for us. Keep the cards and letters rolling. Go for it! |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We are the second biggest revenue source in the County and the commissioners regard us as a cash cow and do not provide us with our fair share. Bennett Bozman told me that they built a multi million dollar Senior Center in Snow Hill that serves only about 35 people. He thought we should have asked for one in the northern end of the county. The Commissioners built a multi million dollar recreation center in Snow Hill. Does anyone know the population of Snow Hill?? It is not nearly as large as Ocean Pines. Yes, they say that "anyone can use the Rec Center in Snow Hill Phyllis, even poor Dorchester County has a Senior Center and a public pool. My friend over there says it is very nice. Worcester is NOT a poor county. There is plenty of money....just not for the Northern County....anywhere near Ocean Pines. We need to stand up for ourselves. I am writing to both commissioners about Ed's idea for using the shopping center area. There is no reason that OP should have to pay for a community center for the county. Good grief, we have just provided a POOL! The former grocery is large enough for a gym and other rooms, and there is some extra behind the center .....and plenty of parking. Showell is going to be developed, Bishopville is growing, as will River Run, Pennington Commons and there is other empty land that will developed. The shopping center would be a good location....AND it has walls, a roof, water and sewer. I hope others will contact our ladies about such a venture. They need to hear from a LOT of people. Ocean PInes should not have to provide a gym / rec center for Worcester County. Nancy |
