The word "substantial" is certainly subject to interpretation... and different people will have different interpretations. Given the ruckus that is raised whenever this Board spends and money (like the relatively small amount recently proposed for the Golf information system)... I would argue that the members of this association might well consider $5,000 or $10,000 to be substantial. Point is that Marty is free to interpret that word in a way that he is comfortable with... as are you and I.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where:

Please direct me to the Ocean Pines document which requires our board of directors to engage in County, State, or Federal legislation or politics. I can only find that this kind of behavior is, for the most part, prohibited.

Prohibited? Marty, you continue to repeat your mantra on this even after the wording in the articles of incorporation have been pointed out to you on numerous occasions.

Here it is AGAIN:

No substantial part of the activities of the Association shall be the carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation,

Besides, the OPA board can change those words at ANY time.

Now, if OPA board is not supposed to engage in county politics, how come the board is looking at ways to influence the county commissioners?
