Description: Gloria Lebling was recently honored as the recipient of the 2006 Sam Wilkinson Recreation & Parks Volunteer of the Year award. The award, instituted by Recreation & Parks Director Mike Howell and his staff in 2003, is named after the young boy who lost his life at Ocean Cities Northside Park pond. Subsequently, lifesaving devices have been located at various locations and referred to as Sam's Box. Gloria moved to Ocean Pines in 1992 and began her volunteer work with the Recreation & Park Department immediately which among others includes the Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival and Breakfast with Santa. "Gloria has been available for anything we ask her to do" said Mike Howell. Aside from the personal plaque presented to Gloria her name will be added, along with the three previous recipients, to one permanently kept at the Recreation & Parks Dept.
