Description: Annual Member Clean-up Day Helps Prepare Golf Course for Upcoming Season Although the Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club golf course may have been closed to patrons March 24th, the Golf Maintenance Department and 30 volunteers were busy participating in the “Annual Clean-up Day” for the upcoming season. The time was marked on the Ocean Pines calendar as “Member Clean-up Day,” a day that encourages members to work on their Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course. Harlyn Goldman CGCS, Director of Golf Maintenance at the Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club, stated employees and staff logged a total of 160 hours in that day. The labor included aerification of the greens, tees, over-seeding, drainage, irrigation installation and tree trimming. Due to the weather, fairway and rough aerification was postponed. “We had the help of 30 volunteers who donated close to 100 hours of their time raking debris, picking up fallen limbs, and filling divots. Others help remove material that had accumulated during the previous day’s rainstorm. ,” Goldman said. “With the help of these volunteers, we were able to get ahead of our spring clean-up,” Goldman added. The Golf Maintenance Department and the Ocean Pines Men’s Golf Association sponsored an appreciation luncheon for all volunteers following their dutiful completion of work.
