By Bob Lassahn

On Saturday, November 1 at 10 a.m. the Worcester County Veterans Memorial at Ocean Pines Foundation, Inc. held its annual membership meeting in the Ocean Pines Library. The primary purpose of the meeting was election of members to serve on the board of directors. About 40 members were in attendance and others had submitted proxies to facilitate voting that would fill 10 seats from a field of 13 candidates.

When the ballots were tallied incumbent board members Roseann Bridgman, John Henglein, Joe Matturo, Arlene Page and Bill Rakow had secured another three year term. Securing two year terms were incumbent Bill Killinger and first time directors Carrie Dupuie, Mary Adair and Al Kastner; incumbent director Sharyn O'Hare secured another one year term. The board is scheduled to hold their organizational meeting on November 10 and elect their officers for the coming year.

The board of directors manages all aspects of the Foundation as well as programs  and events undertaken during the year,. A primary item on their agenda is to provide for the perpetual care of the memorial.
Annual memberships are available to those interested for $15. Life memberships are $150 and corporate memberships are also available for $100 annually or $300 for life. The foundation provides a number of opportunities for members to become involved including fundraising, landscaping, maintenance, ceremonies, educational/community outreach, speakers and other interesting activities.

Bricks and pavers are available for purchase and placement at the memorial to honor those who have served in America's military. Bricks bearing two lines of text (14 characters each) sell for $75 and pavers with four lines of text (14 characters each) are $150.
