In a brief ceremony at the start of their monthly meeting on May 3, the Ocean Pines Women's Club presented its annual scholarship awards.  Out of a field of 10 deserving candidates, three Stephen Decatur High School (SDHS) students were chosen by a five member Scholarship Committee, chaired by Gloria Eklund.

The winners of the 2007 scholarships are; Christina Isner who will attend Salisbury University to major in secondary education; Kyle Pruitt who will attend McDaniel College, Westminster, MD as a pre-med student; and Sarah Stoler who will attend the University of West Florida where she expect to major in marine biology.

The $1,000 scholarships have been awarded annually for the past nine years.  In order to qualify applicants must be seniors at SDHS, full time residents of Ocean Pines and planning to attend an accredited school of higher education.

The 200 plus membership of the Women's Club conducts various fundraisers throughout the year in order to provide the scholarships which initially were $500.
