Canoe & Bike Rentals At Assateague
From Maryland Coastal Bays Program

Formerly run by private business, the canoe and bike rental stand located at Assateague Island National Seashore is now run by the Maryland Coastal Bays Program. The stand rents canoes (life jackets and paddles included), adult cruiser bikes, child size bikes (helmets included) and clam rakes. As with the 800-acre farm the program uses to run school trips, special guided trips for groups will be in the offing.

Rentals and guided tours will help pay for Coastal Bays education programs, water quality monitoring, and habitat protection and restoration projects. Other special programs will raise money for environmental groups who want to use their staff to lead trips. A docent program will also enlist Coastal Bays volunteers who want to bask in the sun on Assateague for a good cause.
