Worcester CompPlan Meeting

New Worcester County comp plan highlights public meeting

Local residents can learn the in and outs of the new Worcester County Comprehensive Plan at a public meeting Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Stevenson United Methodist Church on Main Street in Berlin.

At the Coastal Bays Citizens Advisory Committee meeting, Worcester County Long-Term Planning Director Sandy Coyman will unveil for the public the county’s plan for growth.

The "comp plan" will decide where development will occur and how much Worcester County will grow over the next decade or more. The plan includes sections on affordable housing, water quality, transportation, agriculture, and natural resources. Changes from the current comp plan, written in 1989, will be noted.

Public workshops on the plan will begin in March and hearings will take place throughout April.

The Citizens Advisory Committee is composed of recreational and commercial fishermen, developers, farmers, and other local business owners and citizens who meet monthly to discuss the goals and direction of the Maryland Coastal Bays Program. The public is invited to attend. For information on the meeting call 410-213-2297.
